About Alison
Alison Ackerley is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland and a Nationally Certified Counselor. As a therapist, Alison focuses on building the therapeutic relationship through compassion and honesty to create a safe environment where you can explore the impacts to your mental health and gain a greater sense of self.
In addition to anxiety and depression, and general relationship concerns, Alison has strong experience in supporting individuals as they explore topics and issues related to gender and sexuality, body image/body neutrality, trauma, and ADHD. She supports these issues through a gender-affirming and HAES-focused approach.
In order to create individualized treatment for each client, Alison utilizes several theories including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, person-centered, and behavioral while prioritizing a culturally sensitive approach.
Outside of practicing therapy, Alison enjoys collecting vinyls and creating the perfect playlist, making ceramics, and traveling to see her favorite artists in concert.
